[Note: Here be spoilers.] Anyone familiar with the mythos of Spider-Man can tell you that Gwen Stacy is one of the most important figures within it. But Gwen Stacy is so much more than simply Peter Parker's tragic destiny. Gwen Stacy the girl is vital, vibrant, with a confidence that is innate and doesn't need to make a show of itself. Top in her class (beating out even Peter), Gwen is sharp, with a keen love of science and a surprisingly honed understanding of human nature. Well-read and clever, she knows how to use words to her advantage, and maneuvers admirably around her own uncertainty to be the girl who steps forward to diffuse fistfights or offer a hug to the mourning loner.

Naturally pragmatic, Gwen appreciates romantic or thoughtful gestures but is not sentimental. She follows a firmly pointed moral compass, even if that means kicking the boy she likes out of her workplace or obscuring the truth from her father. Maintaining a clear objective is paramount to Gwen in all things, occasionally to the point of personal recklessness: Because she can envision a course of events, she sometimes neglects to acknowledge how her own limitations or the actions of others might skew them. She can't imagine that placing herself in danger could do more harm than good; she only knows that she can swing a trophy at someone's head or prepare a desperately-needed antidote. The result is a willful obliviousness that can and has made life significantly more difficult for the people who care about her.

It's ironic, then, that Gwen is intimately familiar with the sick fizz of anxiety that comes from loving someone constantly in harm's way. She compensates for this by asserting control over the things she's able to, from her meticulous appearance to her grades. Prior to meeting Peter Parker, Gwen's life had been plotted along a straight and seemingly indelible line; while she can roll with the punches with all the deftness instilled by her father's example, from a young age her life has been neatly defined. When faced with the harsh reality of what Peter meant to do with his new abilities, her world tilted, skewed too far into the unknown, and her instinct was to balk, push away. Remaining in their fledgling relationship required mustering every ounce of faith Gwen possessed, which made it seem all the more like a betrayal when Peter later ended things at her father's behest. Gwen likes to believe that she's capable of seeing all angles, that her commitment implies as much; in reality, she is young, much more naive than she seems, and couldn't have possibly known what dangers and heartbreak the future held for them both.

Being a prefect had always seemed to Gwen like the proverbial double-edged sword: On the one hand, the additional responsibilities provided unique opportunities she might not otherwise have. She particularly liked, for instance, assisting the first years when she had been in fifth, and being in charge of the regular Ravenclaw study group. On the other, the position came with a less-than-ideal reputation, and some very tedious tasks. Her first year as a prefect, she'd absolutely loathed going on patrols, despite that Charles Xavier wasn't bad company; nobody wanted to be caught out of bounds, and when the halls were clear, all she could think of was how much time she was wasting.

Now, two years later and Head Girl, evening patrols were one of the favorite parts of her week. Over the last three years, she'd earned respect for being firm yet fair with her authority, and had learned that crime didn't always merit a punishment. She didn't dread finding someone doing something wrong, but had rather easily slipped into a leadership role as she'd gotten older, like a big sister to the entire school. And the boring parts? Those were a blissful break from an academic and social schedule that kept her hopping all week long.

The night was clear and crisp, fall beginning to give way to winter, and the halls had been mostly quiet. Hands tucked in her robe, she cast a sidelong glance to Steve beside her as they strolled through the halls, their footfalls softly echoing off the old stone.

"It's weird, isn't it, the way things change when you get older?" she asked with a curious cant of her head. "I used to hate this. Now it's the best part of my day."

Here is the basic code I used for Gwen's profile. It's made to work on custom pages and doesn't look as good on the site scheme, but is still usable that way.

You can use/adapt any way you like! The code is formatted for a 245px image. If you want to find/replace colors: The main (lightest gray) background color is #F2F2F2. The stripes are #CCC, and obviously the bigger stripes are #FFF. Text is #999.

CHARACTER NAME: Gwen Stacy
CHARACTER CANON: The Amazing Spider-Man (film)

Out-of-Character

Slowtagging: For you: Take your time! If I need to know what's going on and it's been awhile, I'll just drop you a note and ask, no worries. For me: How fast I tag back depends on a whole host of boring circumstances. The gist is, sometimes I might be steady for several days, sometimes it might take me a week or longer just to get a single tag in to you. If you ever need me to reply more quickly or need to wrap things up so you can move on, please leave me a note in my dropbox! Don't be afraid, I'm happy to work with you!
Canon-puncturing: This is eventually going to turn out to be difficult to avoid, but for now please talk to me first.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): Some things I just won't do, but I'm open to discussion about anything in a plot-driven capacity.

In-Character

Hugging this character: If you don't know her, that's going to be super awkward. It might still be super awkward even if you do know her, depending on the circumstances.
Kissing this character: Unless it makes sense in context, this is going to go over poorly.
Flirting with this character: Go for it.
Fighting with this character: Gwen's more of a "reasoned debate" kind of gal than an outright arguer. In terms of physical fighting, she'll do whatever she can to avoid it.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): I'm not against it, but you'll need to talk to me first.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Sure, have fun.

Godmodding

As of right now, no one has specific permission to godmod Gwen. Feel free to mention having seen her around the hotel, though, as she is permanently unable to return home as of June 2014.
